Artificial Mosaic Generation with Gradient Vector Flow and Tile Cutting
Mosaics are images obtained by cementing together small colored fragments and are an ancient example of discrete primitive-based images. Artificial mosaics are illustrations composed by a set of small images called “tiles” that tessellate a source image aiming to reproduce the original visual information in a mosaic-like style. In this paper, we propose a mosaic generation technique based on gr...
متن کاملArtificial Mosaics by Gradient Vector Flow
In this paper a novel approach for artificial mosaic generation is proposed. Gradient Vector Flow computation together with heuristics to maximise the covered mosaic area are used. The high frequency details are managed in a global way allowing to preserve the mosaic-style also for small ones. Experiments and comparisons with previous works confirm the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
متن کاملArtificial Mosaics with Irregular Tiles Based on Gradient Vector Flow
Artificial mosaics can be generated making use of computational processes devoted to reproduce different artistic styles and related issues. One of the most challenging field is the generation of an artificial mosaic reproducing some ancient and well known techniques starting from any input image. In this paper we propose a mosaic generation approach based on gradient vector flow (GVF) properly...
متن کاملA Novel Artificial Mosaic Generation Technique Driven by Local Gradient Analysis
Art often provides valuable hints for technological innovations especially in the field of Image Processing and Computer Graphics. In this paper we present a novel method to generate an artificial mosaic starting from a raster input image. This approach, based on Gradient Vector Flow computation and some smart heuristics, permit us to follow the most important edges maintaining at the same time...
متن کاملGradient Vector Flow Deformable Models
Deformable models are used extensively in image processing, computer vision, and medical imaging applications, particularly to delineate object boundaries. Problems associated with initialization and poor convergence to boundary concavities, however, have limited their utility. This chapter presents an external force for deformable models, largely solving both problems. This external force, whi...
